Chris started a Kickstarter crowdfunding project to prove to other larger investors that there is a need for this type of game in the gaming world. Star Citizen has surpassed $3.5 Million in funding as of last night, and it's in it's last week of fundraising.

That's right SWG fans, the new merge from (unstable) SWGEmu code otherwise known as Nova to (stable) SWGEmu code, otherwise known as Basilisk is to happen Sunday November 4th. That means all the latest and greatest changes and fixes that have been published to Nova Test Center will be live on the Basilisk play server. There are so many fixes, it's going to be a big change for the community. Most notably, the Theed starport will be instant travel once again, hopefully breathing life into the struggling Theed player economy.

It seems that the development team has gotten some new wind under their sails this year, and are even pushing the testing community to test specific components. Things are getting very interesting with the SWGEmu project lately. How long until there is another major merge, a.k.a SWGEmu Publish 2? The 1.3.1 Minecraft update has proven to be a big enough one for old mods to start development again. We also found a ton of cool new mods we wanted to try out on the server. The list is pretty large, so check it out after the jump.

We have linked to each project to give you all an opportunity to take a look at what the features of each new mod is, and what commands might be available. Some of these mods might be only availabe to THOR admins, but most will probably eventually be available to all.

It's been a few months since we have seen a Minecraft update. In fact, it's the longest time between Minecraft updates to date for the Minecraft project, but it seems for good reason. There are a ton of new changes coming for this latest update. There has been so many changes in the game engine that the Mojang team has decided to move to a 1.3 release branch. There have already been some updates to the 1.3 branch, so Minecraft 1.3 is already a thing of the past.

Our Minecraft server has grown past the RAM limit we have on the VPS that I was running it on, so I have moved the Minecraft server to a different server with more RAM. In an effort to expand the THOR Gaming community and re-establish ourselves as an actual gaming community, I have launched a Team Fortress 2 server in place of the old Minecraft server on the VPS. The server is online @ tf2.thehammerofresistance.com.

THOR Returns on Shadow Hand!

THOR guild has been registered in the SWTOR pre-launch guild program since early August. We had enough pre-orders to lock in our guild for the pre-launch. Our server, Shadow Hand, has been chosen today. We hope you join us after launch. Currently the guild is locked and we can't do anything until pre-launch at least.

BF3, Cheating, Hacks

I purchased Battlefield 3 a few weeks ago for the PC. I have been a Battlefield player since their original Battlefield 1942 game, and I played several BF1942 addons including Eve of Destruction. I purchased several of the Battlefield sequels including Battlfield 2142 and Battlefield 2. I did not purchase Battlfield Vietnam, as I thought it was a ripoff of Eve of Destruction, which I had already played in my mind. Overall you could call me a veteran Battlefield player and skilled at that. I even ran a Battlefield 1942 server for a while back in the day.

Well, it seems Notch and the Mojang team have been burning the midnight oil since the Minecraft Beta 1.6 release last week. They have gone ahead and released 5 Minecraft 1.6 point releases already. Seems kind of quick, but there have been some major bugfixes against the 1.6 release in these updates, so you better grab them. More details about the fixes and features in Minecraft Beta 1.6.1, Beta 1.6.2, Beta 1.6.3, Beta 1.6.4, and Minecraft Beta 1.6.5 after the jump.

Today I was poking around the Minecraft Wiki trying to figure out some Minecraft crafting strategies. I found out that running around trying to find coal all the daytime hours in Minecraft is a total waste of time. Since Beta 1.2, Minecraft has had charcoal! Charcoal is now my favorite item in the game.

Minecraft

Minecraft beta is out now and Notch is currently offering his beauty of a game up for 25% off what the retail price will be when version 1 is released. I got my copy in Alpha, which was even cheaper if you can believe that. If you are into sandbox games, like to build stuff, or kill monsters, this game is for you.

The game is a bit addicting if you like to build stuff, as you basically have an endless supply of building materials once you get going. You will find yourself wanting to recreate many things you have always wanted to build. I started out first by building a castle. I used to love the old RTS castle games, so why not build my own castle in Minecraft to keep out the monsters.

The Hammer of Resistance guild was started by family and friends to enjoy MMO games together and help each other out in August 2003 in Star Wars Galaxies on the Bria Server. THOR still carries the ideals of having fun and helping each other out. You may find some of us still on the Windrunner Realm in World of Warcraft, or possibly SWTOR when it is released.

While the guild is not really active in any games currently, we do cover tons of MMO gaming news including World of Warcraft news from some of the top sources. We still have our forum active for old THOR members to keep in touch and I have also added a new section for World of Warcraft guides. I will soon be adding back the screenshots gallery, but it will include options for more MMO games.
